Former UGA football DB AJ Harris announces transfer destination

Georgia football transfer defensive back A.J. Harris, a former five-star recruit, committed to Penn State on Thursday with three years of eligibility remaining.

Harris entered the transfer portal in December after UGA's SEC Championship loss to Alabama. Harris was in line to compete for a starting role in 2024, but he felt like he would have a better opportunity elsewhere.

The freshman appeared in seven games this season, recording eight tackles. Georgia faithful got their first look at Harris during the spring game in which he had six tackles and a pass breakup.

Harris (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) was fifth among cornerbacks in snaps this season, behind Kamari Lassiter, Daylen Everette, Julian Humphrey and Nyland Green.

The Phenix City, Ala., native was rated as the No. 2 cornerback and the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama coming out of Central High School.
